I have a very short attention span so my favorite youtube videos are the ones that are less than 30 seconds long. There are not enough videos if you ask me that are this short. I do not like it if they are too short like under 10 seconds long. Then it is barely like you’re watching anything. I like the 30 second recaps of famous movies that some people make on YouTube. I also like 30 seconds of babies giggling or 30 seconds of kittens cuddling. When people start making five-minute videos of their hamster doing tricks I get really bored. I think all videos should be limited in the time they get to take. No more than 1 min. Absolutely. I know that some people post even longer stuff on YouTube. But that is just crazy. Who wants to watch that? Who has the time? I know I do not have the time.
The Craziest Stuff
One of the craziest movies I’ve ever seen is American History X. I had to close my eyes through whole sections of the film. And I had to fast forward through the part where William Russ delivers his speech about the n-word. That was the first time I watched it. I’ve since realized the value in making myself watch something I find so objectionable. It only serves to reinforce my beliefs about the dangers of hate. But at first, I really had a hard time stomaching the kinds of violence and hate speech that were so rampant in that film. I mean, it’s hard enough to look at a swastika tattoo for ten seconds, let alone for a whole movie. But the performances in that film, and the directing, and the overall message make it a valuable cinematic contribution, the diametric opposite of DW Griffith’s terrible propaganda. I loved American History X.
